For the first time, as a result of the desire to investigate, El Conde de Torrefiel intends to devise a piece aimed at families and children ir order to test our capacity to create theatre for people born into this new century, who are developing within its framework and who will shape its future.
This creation is further testament to the company’s interest in investigating the possibilities that abstraction and poetry bring to theatrical formats: allowing the telling of a story while avoiding narration; dodging the act of narration by illustrating, and basing the underlying concept on devices that appeal to intuition and free responses.
The intention of this proposal, therefore, is to generate a theatrical device that allows spectators the space to complete the experience with their own intellectual baggage and imaginative universe.Firstly, we’re going for a piece that provokes impressions and stimulates the senses, with a certain autonomy and thematic freedom, and where the artistic language can stand for itself by transporting the spectator to another world without the need for descriptions using words or dramatic actions. We would like the images on stage to have the power to catapult spectators into this other world that they enter through the structure on set and which has no reference to our everyday world.
This work aim to shape a piece that offers an unpretentious aesthetic experience, with no underlying intention or doctrine. Hedonist in that it seeks pleasure in the widest somatic and body-related sense of the word, through small actions and sensorial states. Half closing ones eyes to see better, and suddenly opening them in front of the unexpected; feeling that the time spent has been worthwhile and leaving the theatre in the same state as people who were at concerts during which Kurt Cobain would destroy his guitar, with the privileged feeling of being able to say: I was there.
